Debra Denise Houston-Brewer, a devoted nurse and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on July 9, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee, she grew up to embody the spirit of compassion and dedication that would define her career.
Debra was a proud graduate of Fayette County public schools, where she laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education and personal growth. Following her graduation, she pursued a degree in nursing, a path that reflected her caring nature and desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Her professional journey in nursing begins when she obtained her Nursing license. where she worked in the labor and delivery. she worked tirelessly for over twenty-five years. She served on the Board of Tennessee Nursing Association, Tennessee Board of Case Management and also obtained a license from Tennessee Relators Debra's expertise and compassion brought comfort to many families during one of life's most significant moments. Later, she served as a Patient Care Assistant at Baptist Hospital in East Memphis, TN, continuing to exemplify her dedication to patient care and support.
Debra is lovingly remembered by her husband, Carl A. Brewer, and her daughter, Jessica D. Brewer. She is also survived by her brother, Samuel Lee Houston, Jr., who stood by her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel, Sr., and Jessie Mae Baker Houston, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Debra also mourned the loss of her brother, Guy Houston, whose memory she carried with her always.
Debra Denise Houston-Brewer leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and compassion that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Her contributions to her family and community will be cherished and remembered for years to come.
Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2025, at Wright's Chapel M.B. Church 1085 Hwy 193 Collierville, TN. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am. Rev. Tony L. Pierce, Pastor Eulogist.
