Vernon "Blue" Woods, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 77. Born on August 20, 1948, in Fayette County, Tennessee, Blue was a man known for his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to his community and family.

Blue's education began at W.P. Ware High School, where he laid the foundation for a life dedicated not only to personal achievement but also to the service of others. He found his calling in his professional career as an employee of Medigen Medical Supply Company.

A member of Nollies M.B. Church, Blue shared his love for music by singing in the male chorus. His faith was an integral part of his identity, and he proudly served as an Honorary Deacon and usher, embodying the spirit of service that defined his life. Blue was a man of deep conviction, participating actively in the life of his church and community.

Blue had a passion for gardening, which allowed him to embrace the beauty of nature. He cherished time spent with his beloved dogs, finding companionship and joy in their presence. A devoted family man, he especially treasured moments with his two favorite grandsons, imparting his wisdom and love to future generations.

Blue is survived by his wife, Glenora Giles Woods, and their son António (Pamela) Giles. He is also mourned by his brothers, Willie M. (Olester) Woods and Sam (Tosha) Woods, along with his sisters, Ophelia Woods and Maglia Jones. He was predeceased by his parents, Vance and Allie Mae Cross-Woods.

As we remember Vernon "Blue" Woods, we celebrate a life characterized by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to family and faith. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, 12 Noon at Nollies M.B. Church 10450 Feathers Chapel Dr, Oakland, TN38060.
